Richard Harding is a retired Group Captain, having served in the RAF for 27 years. He commanded RAF Uxbridge from 2003 to 2005, during which time he was also ADC to Her Majesty The Queen. During his tenure he worked with volunteers to develop the Battle of Britain Bunker and introduced numerous visitors — both military and civilian — to the historic Operations Room. His greatest privilege was escorting Geoffrey Wellum, the youngest Spitfire pilot in the Battle of Britain, to the Operations Room in 2004.

Subsequently, Richard pursued an independent career as an HR Director before running his own company. He is currently a senior consultant for an IT company developing AI software for private businesses.

Richard has also pursued a parallel career as an author. In the Wake of Fire, his debut novel, tells the story of the Battle of Britain through the eyes of two young people who fought it. His non-fiction work From Shankly to Iraola examines the lives and legacies of Liverpool FC's managers across 66 years of the club's history.
